After 'Manmarziyaan', Anurag Kashyap's next project faced some troubled waters even before it went on the floors. Tentatively titled 'Womaniya', the film was said to be stuck due to monetary issues. Few more reports had claimed that the reason for the shelving of the film was a struggle between Anurag Kashyap and Pritish Nandy over the title 'Womaniya'. Kashyap, who holds the Intellectual Property Rights for the term ‘womaniya’ from his film 'Gangs of Wasseypur' song couldn't officially register it as the film's title since the title has already been registered under Pritish Nandy Communications Ltd.
However, earlier in the day, the film's leading actress Taapsee Pannu and Anurag shared that the film has officially started shooting. Though neither revealed the title of the film, Taapsee's message did grab some eyeballs. She wrote, "Kabhi humaari picture shelve karva dete hai kabhi title ki maara maari, maine socha main Khud hi picture announce kar deti hu through my PERSONAL MEDIANET ab jisko jo ukhaadna hai ukhaad lo ! Kickstarting the shoot of our country’s oldest and coolest shooters #Chandro #Prakashi.”

Later in the day, Anurag took to Twitter and publicly opened up about the struggle over the film's title. He wrote, "So we have decided to not pay the extortion sum of 1 crore to @PritishNandy. He can sit on the title and warm it and hope for it to hatch into something worthwhile for his company for once.”

He added that the title has been changed to 'Saand Ki Aankh' as he further wrote, "while we go ahead with what @taapsee @bhumipednekar @tushar1307 @nidhiparmar @RelianceEnt @prakashjha27 @ItsVineetSingh @realshooterdadi @shooterdadi want the film to be ..”SAAND KI AANKH”. I am sorry that i had faith in Mr. Nandy."
